ABOUT US

The 11^th edition of Buffer Fringe is coming up between 2^nd and 4^th of October 2026!

The Buffer Fringe Performing Arts Festival, by the Home for Cooperation, is the only Fringe Festival in Cyprus. It is an intercommunal festival since its inception both in terms of its organizing team but also the participating artists and audiences. Since 2014 and its first edition, the Festival has evolved from a small, locally rooted event in the buffer zone to an internationally recognized festival, using performing arts to nurture dialogue, co-creation, and positive conflict transformation. It is a festival that highlights the powerful role of arts and culture in challenging preconceived divisive narratives while encouraging positive social transformation. This edition returns to the roots of what makes Buffer Fringe the Festival that it is: a space for those who ‘dare to challenge’.

Building Bridges

Buffer Fringe as a core program of the Home for Cooperation, aims to engage with people across communities through an intersectional lens, enabling the emergence of alternative subjectivities to dominant historical narratives and ideologies which are vey much politicized and often divisive for the people of Cyprus.

Supporting Artists

Acknowledging the importance of arts to resist and recreate, persevering through the precarity of our times, one of the Festival's main priorities is to support emerging and established artists, showcase interdisciplinary work and innovative methodologies, and enable participation in the knowledge sharing and exchange the Festival instigates.

Co-creation & Collaboration

The Festival places co-creation and collaboration at its centre. Striving to provide space for collective practice, ideas and exchange, each Festival edition is shaped through the contribution of artists, field practitioners, cultural experts, academics and organizations from Cyprus and abroad.
